THE USE OF ERGOGENIC NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT IN SPORTS NUTRITION
 
Sports nutrition improves athletic performance by reducing fatigue, the risk of disease and injury. Nutritional supplements are at the top of the sports nutrition pyramid. The purpose of nutritional ergogenic aids is to improve performance, gain lean body mass or muscle mass by stimulating protein synthesis, and reduce body fat content. The use of nutritional ergogenic supplements in cases where dietary intake is not enough provides the optimization of health. There is a lot of evidence that short-term high-intensity exercise performance can be improved with creatine supplementation. The evidence regarding BCAA and HMB supplements is mixed. Further research is required to prove its certainty. Carnitine plays an important role in fatty acid oxidation in muscles but there is no conclusive evidence that they have a beneficial effect. Omega-3 has the potential to be an ergogenic aid that improves sports performance. Caffeine can improve performance through its direct effects on muscles and the nervous system. The use of citrulline, arginine, and nitric oxide helps to increase circulation by dilating blood vessels. It seems that the clinical evidence for the use of conjugated linoleic acid is insufficient and there is no unanimity regarding its effects on the reduction of body fat. This study has been prepared to provide general information about popular nutritional ergogenic supports by conducting a current literature review.
